Learn the basics of working hot iron at the forge with hammer and anvil. Learn how to use the hammer and anvil surfaces to execute the essential forms of blacksmithing--twists, scrolls and, if you are up for it, even a dragon head.
No prior blacksmithing experience required.
We supply the well-tooled smithing studio with your own anvil and tooling, material to forge, and an attentive instructor, and you bring the capacity to have a great day in the forge studio. You will leave with the forged pieces you have made in a day at the smithy.
If you already have experience at the forge, this is a good workout opportunity to practice your technique, and to pick up tricks and tips from a master smith. Practicing the forms is how you get good, so come back for a day's workout to hone your skills
9:30 AM to 4:30 PM

SUNDAY SAMPLER - Putting Design on the Line
Sunday, July 7, 2013
The lines of good design are like the lines of great poetry or music, while bad design can feel like a mess of run-on sentences. Learn how to use eight different curves in your design with educator and artist
David Caccamo.
Learn how to combine them with each other and with straight lines to form good compositions. We will explore this in both 2D and 3D, including working a strand of copper wire to explore line
drawing in space.
Where do you find inspiration for the lines of good design? David Caccamo will also show you places to look for design ideas that you may never have thought of.
Sunday Samplers invite you to a leisurely Sunday. Start if you wish with a Sunday brunch nearby, and enjoy a mid-day session at the studio.
